So lets start this post off with how we came to be booked for the wedding… It was around December 27th or so when I (Jake) saw that Trevor had gotten engaged, so of course I sent off a congratulatory message with a little “ha ha” joke on the end that if they needed someone to photograph the wedding to drop me a line… fast forward a day or two later and a message from Trevor saying “Hey the wedding is in less then a month, want to come photograph it??” Well danggggggggg…. ten minutes later I had a plane ticket booked to San Fran, and this was going to happen.
I have known Trevor for about 11 years, though before arriving for the wedding, I had never met him in person. I originally “met” Trevor through a photography forum, and continued to be in contact with him over the years on Facebook chatting both about photography, and aviation. When Claire + Trevor started telling me about how they met (over their love of paragliding,) and how the wedding would be focused around aviation… the reception was in a hanger with Trevor’s plane as the back drop… I was alllllll over this wedding. It was pretty much my unicorn wedding lol. A note about the van in the photos; Claire and Trevor fixed it up (though it might have over heated on the wedding day) and planned to head out on a road trip for their honeymoon, it was pretty darn sweet.
The wedding day was absolutely stunning. The ceremony and some of the photos at a winery, and the reception back at the Sonoma Airpark in the hanger, it was a dream come true. Stay tuned for the day after session we did, where the plane played a large part of the shoot.
Thank you again Claire + Trevor for trusting this Canadian you’ve never actually met to come down to capture your incredible wedding.
Enjoy!
